My name is Phil. This is me on the left. In the background you can see the most astounding creation of nature. This view is partly responsible for my continued love of traveling. In summer 2013 I embarked on the adventure of a lifetime – having just left school – to solo travel China on my own having never travelled anywhere solo before. During the time I was there I experienced more than I could have ever imagined, and now I strive to continue to fill my life with excitement. I was born in Oxford, United Kingdom in the Western world and have travelled a fair amount during my life, however, never went further than Europe (with the exception of Australia and America). Asia and especially China has always intrigued me with its culture, lifestyle and spectacular views. It felt like a place which was out of reach for the average citizen, keeping itself behind a political cover and the media portraying it as a repugnant country with distasteful laws.
It was only when I found a Vlogger on Youtube called SerpentZA who showed a China, I had never seen before. A China with spectacular views, a vastly growing infrustructure and a culture like no other. I was hooked and knew I had to go and see it for myself.
I decided to start this blog for various reasons. Before I left I still had a lot of unanswered questions, and even though there are a few blogs out there for China, I felt they didn’t fully answer some vital questions. I hope this helps people who are thinking of travelling in this region of the world. Creating and managing my own website has always been an enjoyable hobby of mine and continues to be so. The best part is when I’ll be looking back in 10 years time rereading what I’ve done.
