Travelling in Thailand

Thailand…. Well I don’t think you can like both – China and Thailand. It’s not possible since they are such different countries. Therefore my trip to Thailand has been not as astounding as I would have liked it to be since that “wow” factor of Asia has already got a place in China. Don’t get me wrong, I had a crazy time here and met lots of “interesting” and “odd” people who were great to go out exploring with or share a couple of drinks. However, I believe Thailand is really a country that should be done with more than one person and NOT solo. It’s a place to have fun, relax and sit on the beach and that is best done with a friend. 99% of the time I was here I was always with someone so I had people to go out with and do these things. It’s just that people go on to different places next, and so you have to start this whole friendship process again when instead you could be on the beach playing volleyball with your best mate.

Travelling in Thailand: It is ridiculously easy. If only it was so easy flying with Ryanair! You go to a travel agency and say where you want to go. They pick you up from your hotel or hostel and take you to your destination. Solo travelling here is relaxing and can be done by anyone, especially first timers.

Locals: This is a subject which I will tread lightly on. Personally, I found a lot more people here trying to scam me or befriend me just to get money. I’m not saying they are all like that but a large proportion of the locals I met here were just like that.

Food: Thai Food is great. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. Not much else to say…. However, what you probably didn’t know is that there is a large Indian and Lebanese population in Bangkok which makes probably the best food you have ever tasted. Sure… I get it, you don’t want to come to Thailand and eat Lebanese food. Well, all I can say is… your loss!

Note: Local Thai Restaurants generally close early, so try to go at around 8:30pm the latest.
